Dear Colleagues,
It has come to the attention of our employers that a large percentage, approximately 90%—of our unemployed Environmental Health Officers currently in the labour market are not employable. This unfortunate situation arises primarily from the failure to meet the pre-requisite requirements for employment, particularly the issue of registration and professional licensing.
The Lagos State Government has emphasised that, among all licentiate professional cadres within the State Civil Service, our cadre remains the only one that consistently gives excuses which are not officially tenable under labour laws. This position has continued to weaken our professional relevance in recruitment considerations.
In light of this, the Servant Leader and Executive Council of EHOAN, Lagos State Chapter, passionately appeal to all Environmental Health Officers, both serving and unemployed, to ensure strict compliance with the professional requirement of registration and licensing as Environmental Health Practitioners.
Henceforth, if you are seeking employment or re-engagement,conversion,upgrading,promotion and any form of official advancement, please adhere strictly to these requirements. Do not go about spreading misinformation that your Association is not doing anything about employment matters.
EHOAN has consistently made efforts and continues to engage relevant authorities on your behalf. However, no progress can be achieved if members fail to fulfil their professional obligations.
Therefore, let this serve as both a reminder and a call to responsibility, compliance is not optional; it is mandatory for professional recognition and employability.
As the saying goes, “A stitch in time saves nine.”
This is just a tip of the iceberg, greater things are ahead for those who align with the right professional standards.
EHOAN, as always, remains your servant in the collective struggle for recognition, employment, and professional advancement.
We wish you all the very best in your future endeavours.
Yours in the Service,
San.Dr. Akinyele Cyril Babasope
Servant Leader.
