EHOAN Lagos Pays Courtesy Visit to Ministry of Housing on 8th September 2025

The Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria (EHOAN) Lagos Chapter, led by its President, San. Dr. Akinyele Cyril Babasope, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing.

During the visit, the President highlighted the purpose of their visit, which was three-fold. Firstly, to express appreciation to the Ministry for their visionary approach in integrating Environmental Health Officers into their operations. Secondly, to seek the Ministry’s support for the unit to enhance effective service delivery. Thirdly, to seek for the employment of more Environmental Health Officers through the State Civil Service Commission direct employment. Additionally, he commended the Ministry for their kind gesture in procuring 5 utility vehicles for the unit, a gesture that will undoubtedly facilitate their operations.

The Permanent Secretary assured the association that the request for the employment of more Environmental Health Officers through the State Civil Service Commission would be duly considered and processed.

The President reiterated the association’s commitment to synergizing with the Ministry of Housing to effectively manage environmental health responsibilities. He also promised that members from the Local Government will be supporting those at the Ministry of Housing, if needed, as part of a joint service initiative.

The meeting, which was attended by all Directors of various departments, saw the Permanent Secretary commend the efforts of EHOAN members currently serving at the Ministry of Housing. He noted that their presence had led to significant improvements in the majority of the estates under the Ministry’s purview.

The Permanent Secretary encouraged the association to continue striving for excellence, emphasizing that their contributions were crucial to raising the bar of environmental health in Lagos.

The Deputy Director, San. Adeniran Ademola, who oversees the unit, expressed his appreciation for the visit and assured the association that his team would make them proud as Lagos Sanitarians.
